Optimum Solution for Your Backup Needs, the Dlt-iv Tape

DLT Technology is thriving as one of the most successful, widely-available technology platforms ever built. Over 3.3 million drives and over 130 million media cartridges have been shipped to date. DLT drives are recognized worldwide as the industry standard. In fact, 98% of FORTUNE 500 businesses trust their mission-critical data to DLT Technology. DLT Technology provides a variety of automation-ready solutions suited to the business continuity needs.

The DLT tape was introduced and developed by Digital Equipment Corporation DEC from 1984 onwards. Quantum purchased the DLT technology in 1994. Quantum Corporation currently manufactures the drives and licenses the trademark and technology. The new and higher capacity version of DLT tape is called the SDLT Super DLT.

The DLT IV tape offers its users value and reliability in DLT backup tape storage. It is the fourth version of DLT backup tape technology. The dlt-iv tape has native capacity of 40GB and compressed rate of 80GB. The DLT-iv tapes have estimated archival life of 30 years. The dlt tape drive and tape costs have been low (generally and the tape cost has also been low. The users of DLT IV tape have significant flexibility in capacity, performance, and dependability.

The new and advanced form of the DLT tape technology is called the Super DLT tape. “Optical servo system” has been introduced in the SDLT tapes. The function of this optical servo system is to read the servo patterns from the back of the reel.

To check the reliability of the Sony dlt tapes, the Sony carried out experiments on some recycled Sony dlt-iv backup tapes that were purchased by the company. The backup tapes that have completed their useable life are removed by the companies and are not further utilized. These tapes are known as the “recycled tapes”.

It is very important for the companies to select a reliable and robust medium for the purpose of backup storage system, so that the valuable and precious data is protected and safe. The reliability of the backup storage tape is mostly affected by the handling, quality and integrity of the brand. The reliability of the tape is also dependent on the working of tape drive. The dlt-tapes that were used for experiment had been in use for 6-7 years, and then these recycled tapes were relabeled and sold. The new look was given by reprinting the ucards and by placing the tapes in the new boxes of album. The upper surface of the backup tape cartridge had some scratches though they were light.

The scratches indicated that the same tape drive was used more often to run the backup tapes. The maintenance of the tape drive can be detected by the damaged edges of the tape. Within the specification, the tape with damaged edges had higher rate of errors in comparison to the other tapes. After checking the total tape length, the damage on upper edge of the tape from start of the tape was detected at about eighty, two hundred seven, two hundred fifty and two hundred seventy two meters.

The reliability of the backup tape medium is associated with the working conditions of the environment, equipment used and most important the brand’s quality. Your top most priority should be that the precious data of the company be protected and made secured. This is important because the future of the company is dependent on this data which is the valuable asset of the company. You may not have an idea regarding the tape cartridge, because it can be changed by the removal of the screws of the tape cartridge.

Choosing The Right Wilson Jones Binder For Your Needs

Three ring binders can be incredibly helpful in organizing information for both professional and personal applications. But having the wrong one is frustrating. Wilson Jones provides a star lineup of over 30 high quality binders with one to suit just about every need. Here are some questions to ask to help you narrow down the choices to the perfect one for you.

What will you do with it? Binders have many uses: presentations, school, filing, and more. Presentation binders can be economical and flexible while school binders need to be more durable. Students often enjoy customizing a sturdy clear view binder with pictures and drawings. Hanging Binders have special vertical pockets that allow loose pages to store securely alongside the hole punched sheets. If you plan to use your binder for archival purposes, be sure to get one with a label slot (or a clear view) on the spine so you can easily identify what it holds. Whichever you choose, being able to answer this question is the first step in selecting the ideal binder for your uses.

]]>

How often will you use it? Some binders are designed to be economical single use tools. Others are heavy duty built for many uses. If you plan to use your binder multiple times, you’ll want to look for one that offers non-stick coating so that ink will stay on your pages, not on your binder.

Do you want to customize the outside? Many Wilson Jones binders have a clear view cover that allows personalized pages to slide in and introduce the contents. Knowing that you do (or don’t) want this option will considerably streamline your options. Their Smart-View Vinyl Binder has a flap on the front cover that allows easy loading for a cover page. They also make a Custom Imprint that has a wrap around opening for tri-sided customization with a single 8.5″ by 11″ sheet.

How many pages will go in it? One of the biggest mistakes people make is picking a binder that is too narrow. A general rule of thumb is about one hundred pages for every half inch. However, it’s far better to have a binder that is too big than too small. Wilson Jones makes binders as small as 3/8″ in the clear view style and as large as 5″ for high capacity needs.

Do you have unique needs? Wilson Jones designs a few specialty binders. Their Casebound DublLock offers regular letter and legal sizes as well as 9.5″ by 6″ and 11″ by 17″ options. They also have another legal size binder as well as one to accommodate A4 documents. For those on the go, the PRESSTEX Binder resists water to help keep your pages dry. And for the environmentally conscious, the Kraft Binder is constructed with parts made from 50-100% post-consumer recycled materials.

Once you have narrowed down your preferences within these categories, there are still more options. Some binders offer pockets and business card slots while others have no-gap rings and single-touch locking mechanisms. And then there are the color choices. It may seem like a lot, but knowing exactly what you’re looking for can really help. Now what are you waiting for? Go check them out today!

If you’d like to purchase any Wilson Jones Binders, you should really visit MyBinding.com. They have a variety of options available at a great price and they also have a wide selection of Index Tabs. Plus, you’ll get free shipping on all orders over .00.

How to Find an Adequate Easel for your Needs

The easel that you use to paint on can make all the difference in the quality of work that you do. Paintings and drawings are made much easier if you can find a nice easel that allows you to work at the angle and position that you want and need. Here are a few tips to consider when searching for the best easel possible.

When searching for the right easel for yourself, you generally will have to select from about two basic designs; either H-frame or tripod.

H-frame Easel:

An H-frame easel may be your best choice if you are looking to do professional work as in a studio. These easels tend to be much sturdier and won’t move much even with aggressive brush painting.

H-frames move up and down by using a ratchet system. Simply slide it up and lock it in place when you reach the preferred level.

Not all H-frames are the same and some have more options than others. They all come in various sizes as well. Find one that fits best for where you are going to be using it because some of them will be taller than the ceiling will allow.

You’ll need to check for storage capacities too. You can get ones that fold up nicely so that you can store them under your bed or in a closet.

The most important thing to consider when looking for an H-frame easel is the size of canvas it will fit. Know what you are going to need it for and then be sure to ask the retailer how big of a canvas you can put on there.

Tripod Easel:

These are the three legged easels that you see everywhere. They are more readily available and generally cost less than most H-frames. The tripods aren’t as stable and sturdy but you have a bit more mobility. You can spin them around in a 360 degree circle, move them up and down, and lock them in at any angle.

Other Choices:

Although the tripod and H-frame are the most acquired and desired easels, you can also get other easels as well. The table top easel is a popular easel that allows you to do your work on a normal table. You can purchase easels for kids, chalk board easels, and even dry erase board easels.

Whatever you do, choose the easel that is going to work best for what you need it for. Don’t hold back on the amount of money you have to spend to find the right one. The wrong fit for what you need is going to affect the quality of work you do and even though you might get one for cheap, you’ll end up either taking it back or throwing it away anyway.

Choosing The Right 3 Ring Presentation Binder For Your Needs

Three ring binders are an awesome way to store and display information in a way that is readily accessible. In fact, they are ideal for binding training manuals, product information and large reports. Many companies choose presentation binders for this type of application. Also known as clear view or clear overlay binders, each binder has a clear vinyl overlay on the front, back and spine. These clear vinyl overlays allow you to insert a title page, your company information and the title of your report or document. This allows you to customize your binder for your report and for your needs.

As simple as this sounds, there are actually a number of different things to consider when you are looking for a three ring presentation binder. Here are five things …

1. Color: Clear overlay binders are most commonly available in white. However, if you look hard you will probably be able to find almost all of the different binders in black as well. A limited number of clear overlay binders are available in navy blue. Other colors would have to be custom produced and would potentially be very expensive.

2. Ring Style: Clear view 3-ring binders are available in three standard ring configurations. The two most common ring styles are round ring and D-ring. However, binders can also be purchased with ez-load d-rings. D-ring binders and ez-load binders tend to be a better fit for large documents while round ring binders are most commonly used for smaller presentations. Generally, round ring binders have the rings attached to the spine of the binder while d-ring binders and ezload binders have the rings attached to the back cover of the binder.

3. Thickness: Presentation binders are available with rings as small as 1/2″ in diameter or as large as 4″ in diameter. Generally, binders are available in half inch increments. It is important to note that binders over 3″ are not available with round rings and that the size of the binder rings does not reflect that actual size of the binder on the shelf.

4. Size: Most clearview binders are designed for 8.5″ x 11″ letter size documents. However, if you are looking for binders that will accomidate your half letter sized documents, legal documents or 11″ x 17″ presentations there are some options available. These options are much more difficult to find and often the options available in these sizes is considerably limited vs. regular letter sized binders.

5. Quality: There are a number of factors to look for when considering the quality of a clear view presentation binder. Clear view binders are available with different grades of clear vinyl on the front, back and spine. Higher quality binders will use vinyl that will not transfer toner from your documents allowing you to reuse the binders. Higher quality binders will also use heavier chipboard, have deeper pockets on the inside and will often include sheet lifters. If you plan on reusing your presentation binders for multiple reports or presentations, these are all things that you should look for.

Using these five features you should be able to better choose the best clear view presentation binder for your organization. While you make your choice, keep in mind that many of the clear view presentation binders available on the market are designed for one time use and are not constructed with high quality materials. If you plan on reusing your binders and don’t want them to fall apart in the hands of your clients you might want to consider purchasing higher quality binders.
